Don’t Judge My Relationship

So, I met the person of my dreams. He is honest and loyal. Compassionate and forgiving. He loves me for exactly who I am and encourages me to become who I am supposed to be. He is always there when I need him and never acts disappointed in me – even though I continue to make the same doggone mistakes.  I have never felt more loved.

His name is Jesus.

Okay, okay. Don’t freak out. I am not getting all religious on you. I don’t really ‘do’ organized religion. But – I love Jesus. If the name Jesus makes you uncomfortable, it’s okay. Just insert Higher Power or Spirit of the Universe, Unconditional Love or Higher Self. Whatever it is – whatever you need to call it – know that it is there.

I have had issues with ‘the God thing’ in the past. Mostly because I have experienced hypocrisy, I was mad at the idea of God and I thought I had to be perfect and to earn God. I needed something to blame my issues on. It’s cool – I am human. I was going through growing pains.

I knew that something was out there, we just weren’t on speaking terms.

Thankfully, I hit a physical, spiritual and emotional bottom and it brought me to a place of willingness. I had a problem that I simply couldn’t fix on my own, so I met a group of people with similar problems who had found a solution. I was willing to do anything at this point.

Long story short – these people said that the solution to my problem was one of a spiritual nature. I needed to fix my relationship with my Higher Power.

Today – I call my Higher Power God, or Jesus. Usually, I call it Big Guy. My Higher Power has many names, many faces. I don’t subscribe to any particular religion’s ideas or rules. I feel like those are man-made ideas to put us or God in a box, that is my opinion.

My God is personal to me. I believe God is personal to each person, I think each religion has the same core. I think that we all have an innate knowledge of something bigger out there. It is our job to figure out what that means to us and feed it.

Some ways that I feed my relationship are through prayer, meditation, candles, walking around in nature, writing down the things I am grateful for, focusing on noticing the beautiful things in life and pausing to smell the flowers or listen to a child’s laugh.

Every person’s relationship will likely look different with their Higher Power and that is the beauty of it! Have you met your Higher Power? How do you nurture that relationship?

As always – thank you for reading, following, liking, sharing and subscribing! You are important to us! We appreciate you!

XO, Jorjia

Stop. Look. Listen. I believe all of us recall hearing this as a small child. As well as certainly telling our own children to stop, look, and listen. Most likely when you read the title and even began reading this blog you thought of crossing the road. I do not blame you at all. Because…
