Hey Sugar!

So, Mom introduced me to the Whole30; a diet that focuses more on changing your thinking rather than losing weight. Part of the Whole30 rules are no sugar allowed. That means no sugar, no glucose, no honey and no sugar substitutes.

Let me tell you – I had no idea how addicted to sugar I am! (I am restarting the whole 30 because I accidentally cheated) The sugar cravings I endured the first few days were extremely intense! They were almost as bad as the cravings I used to have for alcohol. I curbed some of them with fruit which was a big help. Otherwise I would try to focus on my breathing or do something to take my mind off of it. I made it through the first week without cheating before I accidentally drank bone broth that contained sugar. Do you have any idea how many things have sugar in them!? I had no idea!

I am really grateful for the Whole30 because I have been able to see just how addicted I am to certain types of foods. Whole30 also helped me to come off of nicotine completely. I was feeling more energetic and requiring less sleep – and all of this in just over a week’s time!

I am excited to restart my Whole30 and see what other great results are waiting for me!

How addicted are you to sugar?

What diets have you tried that didn’t focus on weight?

What did you learn from those experiences?

I can’t remember the last time I had Kentucky Fried Chicken!” It has become kind of a joke amongst my family, as we heard this weekly for a while from my mom. My mom is turning 75 in December, and is battling memory issues. Sometimes the stages of Alzheimer’s and Dementia…
