Saturday, September 17, 2024 – that is just 2 years away. It is coming whether you plan for it or not.

You may be thinking to yourself what the heck is on September 17, 2024?! And why do I need to be prepared?

My answer is – honestly, I don’t know. I don’t know what is on September 17, 2024, but I do know that it’s coming no matter what. So, the question is who will you be that day? Where will you be? What will your life be like?

Calendar of September, plant in a planter, both on a wooden desk or shelf.

Now, obviously after us experiencing these last few years of Covid tipping the world on its side, we know that we cannot guarantee that we know where will be or what life will be like. I have even had some people say that there is no reason to plan for the future, because we don’t have control over worldly circumstances.

How depressing! I will admit that we don’t have control over everything – but we do have control over our outlook, over the decisions that we make, and over our mindset. (Part of me wanted to say that we ‘can have control’ but then I realized that while the outlook, decisions and mindset may not be what we ‘say’ we want – our actions and results are a direct result of our outlook, decisions and mindset… so we do have control – but are we being intentional?) Ok… ouch, I know, I know… just remember – I am hearing this in my head even as I type it to you, so y’all – I am feeling this too!

The thing is though if we have a plan in place of how we want things to be and we begin implementing it through daily habits and creating and following daily laws, we have a much better chance at being where we’d like to be two years from now.

I have worked with many people that have had a super challenging time trying to envision the future that they want. When you are living in your reality, creating the vision of a dream life is tough. So, when Jorjia taught me something she learned about how to create boundaries and make decisions, I realized – if I tweaked it a bit – it could totally work for this exercise as well! I got excited and set about a way to figure out how to utilize it.

Jorjia taught me to ask these three questions:

  • What do I want?
  • What don’t I want?
  • What am I willing to accept?

I decided I wanted to apply it to doing some ‘dreamscaping’ as Jeff Lerner teaches (dreamscaping is intentionally designing, planning out and keeping it looking good – sort of landscaping your dream & future); I knew I needed to change it up a bit.

So, let’s ask these 5 questions:

  1. What is one thing in my life that I would like to be different if it could?
  2. If it were possible, what would I like it to be?
  3. What changes would it take to get there?
  4. How can I learn to make those changes?
  5. What would it feel like if I did all of that, and achieved it?

That was sort of a lot, so let me give you an example.

  1. I would like a new car.
  2. I would like a Maserati Quattroporte by September 17, 2024.
  3. Increase my finances to own it, being intentional with my daily habits, increase my applied hours working, and change my mindset.
  4. Increase time with mentors, apply daily habits, more experience affiliate marketing, focus on seeing it, follow the right mentors.
  5. AMAZING! It will feel incredible revving the engine, smelling the new leather interior, feeling the power as I take the curves.

So, what if I begin doing the things that I wrote above? Am I guaranteed to have it?

No.

If I actually do the steps that I mentioned, and see it in my mind, the odds of me getting it are extremely higher than if I just thought to myself, wow, that would be a nice car to have.

But if I am not guaranteed, why even try?

Here is a quote that I just love, it is attributed to Wayne Gretzky: You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

So, not trying? Won’t get me the car. Trying? At least there is a chance.

Let’s say that I don’t get the car by September 17, 2024. Is it actually a fail?

I would say no. You see, during that time, if I were really implementing those changes, dreaming of that car and working toward it – by default, my life is improving. I am learning and growing daily by taking those steps. When that date comes, I can look at my life and see what needs to change to hit that goal, or I can even decide if that is still the goal I want, or if something else is actually going to capture my fancy now.

(Side note – as time is going, I will be continually evaluating how I am doing achieving my goal – in the paragraph above it sounded kind of like when I missed it – then I looked to see what needed changed or improved upon.)

These steps can be applied to all areas of our lives. Personal, professional, and physical – the 3 P’s as Jeff Lerner teaches.

Has this got you thinking? What would you like September 17, 2024, to be like for you? (or whatever day in the future you pick)

One thing that I mentioned was working with mentors. Mentors and peer groups are great ways to be able to have some accountability, direction, support, and guidance. If you are interested and unsure where to turn with that, please feel free to contact us and we can help you get some answers.

Another great suggestion that I can give, is to check out our website: conquerwithhope.com. Our event Strategize Your Victories (on September 17, 2022) will be providing some incredible insight and direction for you.
